Workplace Ergonomics Compliance & DSE Risk Management
Why Ergonomics Compliance Matters
Employers in Ireland are legally required to identify, assess, and control ergonomic risks in the workplace to protect staff from musculoskeletal injuries and work-related illness. Several Irish health and safety laws, including the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, specifically mandate that employers address ergonomic risk factors.
Under the Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Regulations, employers must ensure that workstations, equipment, and working practices are set up in a way that minimises ergonomic hazards, particularly for employees who spend significant time using computers.
Dernish Ergonomic Workplace Compliance Programme
We provide a three-step ergonomic compliance solution to help businesses meet legal requirements efficiently and cost-effectively:
Online Ergonomics Awareness Training – Covers ergonomic principles, Irish health and safety law, DSE compliance, workstation setup, safe working practices, and self-assessment. The course includes a certification exam, ensuring employees fully understand their responsibilities.
Employee Self-Assessment (Remote) – Staff complete an online self-assessment and upload two images of their work environment for review.
Competent Person Risk Assessment – A qualified assessor evaluates the employee’s workstation (either remotely or on-site) and recommends adjustments to improve comfort, posture, and compliance.
